ABOUT OUR SHELTER
The Scott and Cheryl Morris Animal Shelter is owned and operated by the The Kearney Area Animal Shelter and supported by donations and earned user fees. A portion of our operating budget is provided by the City of Kearney and Buffalo County in exchange for housing animals picked up at large or held for court jurisdiction.
A donation to the Kearney Area Animal Shelter directly impacts animals in YOUR community. 66% of our budget comes from generous donations. Your contribution stays local.
KAAS is a no kill animal shelter. There is no time limit imposed on animals in our care. As long as the animal is medically and behaviorally healthy, it remains with us as long as it takes to be adopted. We partner with other animal welfare organizations and specialized rescues to help find loving homes for animals, as needed.
Our animals have no time-limits and we never euthanize for space. We are dedicated to finding the perfect home for each pet in our care!
